Four Rad Songs
I've discovered some of my new favorite songs via kind.fm. I'd love to share them with you.
Bobbie Gentry - "Slow Cookin"
Bobbie Gentry was a 60's bombshell who was one of the first female country musicians to write and produce her own material. This b-side is one of the sexiest songs I've heard.
Discovered via Leveling, March 13th.
Alexander 'Skip' Spence - "Little Hands"
Alexander Spence was the original drummer for Jefferson Airplane. He was a guitarist who had never played drums before joining the group, and he left the band after their first album to join Moby Grape. According to various reports, he ran around the recording studio with a fire axe, and was committed to a hospital. This song is from his solo album, Oar. It is a delightful mix of "country, gospel, and acid freakout".
Discovered via The Space Mind Continuum, October 22nd.
Dr. Feelgood - "Keep It Out Of Sight"
The funk of The Talking Heads & the edginess of the Rolling Stones. Dr. Feelgood never left the road from 1971 and 1994.
Discovered via Gull's Window Circus, April 28th.
School Of Seven Bels - "Lovefingers"
Electronic dream pop with twin sister vocalists.
Discovered via No Jay's House Of Watts - December 3rd
